JUST HAVING FUN
Summer: Over much of South Africa, summer (mid-October to mid-February) is characterised by hot, sunny weather - often with afternoon thunderstorms that clear quickly, leaving a warm, earthy, uniquely African smell in the air. Summer is coming and it is nicely warming up here. The kids are anxious to go swimming!! I was told to wait until the first rainfall (it has only rained once since we have been here). So we headed for the back yard for some sprinkler fun (Hiding our fun so the neighbors don't think we are crazy!!)This Saturday - Maddie has her Soapbox Derby Fundraiser at school. She is so excited. She was able to raise enough money to purchase parts for 3 cars!! (because of all her fundraising she also won a free dinner to one of the local restraunts here!!) Thank you to all of you that donated. She really thought that was special. I will be sure to post pictures of the fun event!!

Glad to hear it's warming up. Summer weather and being outside will help pass the time! Say "Hi!" to the kids for us.

Looks like fun......wish I could be there. Give the kids hugs and kisses from Auntie Sara.....
I can see there is no more hitting. :) Looks like the lines worked. The kids look so happy.
Ah, summer....as it ends here, it begins for you. Looks like the kids will be enjoying it :) BTW, how is Flat Stanley? We talked about him at the cottage on Monday.
To Maddie - Have fun at your soapbox derby on Saturday! Do you get to race all three cars that you were able to buy?
Sending love and prayers from Michigan!
The kids look so happy! We're thankful that you found a good church and a doctor. Hopefully Maddie's ears will clear up soon. Love you all! Aunt Marva
Sounds like a great time to be in SA although I'm really looking forward to fall and winter always means vacation for us. Believe me, we're ready for a vacation!
So good to see the kids smiling and having a good time.
Can't wait to see pics of the Soapbox Derby! Wish we could be there to cheer Maddie on! Love from Caledonia! We miss you all!
